I wish the table photos were better but it was hard to get a good picture at that time of day with the light coming in from the window. But you get the idea of what we did for our appetizer/ dessert table. I bought the paper lanterns for another party years ago and it was nice to be able to reuse them. Another idea I implemented for the first time was circle garland. Using a circle scrapbook punch, I cut baby theme paper into circles and taped two circles back to back along 5 feet of blue curling ribbon. I made five or six strands and hung them between the lanterns from the curtain rod. It was a small detail that brought the table and lanterns together. It was easy and I'll definitely be using that idea again.
Our food... we don't mess around. We catered the food from a local Italian eatery and then went outside the cake box by ordering various flavors of Crumb's Cupcakes for dessert. Irish Cream, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Raspberry Swirl, Toasted Coconut, Dulce de Leche and Chocolate Snowball were some of the decadent flavors. We cut the cupcakes in quarters so all the guests could sample them. It was a BIG hit! I am so glad another Crumbs is opening closer to us! You'll also notice I added some flair to the cupcakes... not that they needed much... but to connect the theme, I used my scrapbook circle and scallop punch to make cupcake toppers. Again, I used blue/ baby paper and taped the monkey confetti to them. Talk about easy!
One of the show stoppers was this jungle theme diaper cake. Believe it or not, this was the first time I made one and it was a little harder than my Bridal Shower Utensil Cake because I'm using over 100 diapers verses two paper towel rolls and dish towels. It took a few trial and error takes, but I eventually developed a system. The trick is to tape the diapers together as you are rolling them up instead of taping all the diapers in a line and trying to roll it. It took a bit of time to make (maybe 30 minutes) and then another 10-15 minutes to decorate. Even so, it's a fun way to decorate. And yes, I found jungle themed ribbon and scrapbooking stickers. I don't know how I find these things sometimes. Those are my excited "scream in the store" moments. :)
Another little project I embarked on was making a baby themed bunting for my mantel. Buntings are very trendy right now and for good reason, they are adorable! This was so easy to make! Literally, anyone can make one of these if they are willing to take the 10 minutes to do it!

I started by selecting my blue baby theme paper and cutting the sheets into five isosceles triangles. (see triangle image above) I bought blue cord from a party supply store and glittered mini clothespins, tulle and ribbon from a craft store. I centered one paper triangle on the blue cord with the clothes pins and then added the others so they were equidistant. Once secured, I went back and carefully added the tulle and ribbon under the clothespins for some detail. At the end of the party, I gave the bunting to my sister to use in the new baby's room. It will be cute swagged on a curtain rod or under wall letters.
Two additional ideas I implemented (but sadly, do not have great photos of) were a clothesline with baby clothes pinned across my sliding glass windows and the glittered stick inserts we put in our plant favors. Fortunately, I've done similar things before so I will include those photos in a future post to give you an idea.
And there you have it. Some cute ideas to implement for your next baby shower or sprinkle.
