A Baby Shower for a Little Pumpkin

This time of year is chock full of pumpkins and all things fall which remind me of a sweet little pumpkin that came into our family almost three years ago.  My sister was pregnant with her first child which meant I had a great time planning.  The shower date coincided nicely with mid-autumn and I ran with it.  We threw her a sweet little pumpkin baby shower.

This was definitely out of the box for a lot of people.  Usually you see pastel pink, blue, green and yellow at baby showers and we were using PUMPKINS and ORANGE?  Yes, and everyone loved it!  It was different and just a matter of finding the "right" supplies.  (I'm not into the personified pumpkin stuff)  It also worked in my favor because orange happens to be the complementary color of blue and my sister was having a boy.  :)
I found this adorable invitation on Polka Dot Designs and tailored it to a baby shower.  I still love this!  The wording I used was this:

A Sweet Little Pumpkin is on his way
Help us prepare his Momma for the BIG day!

I got a lot of complements on the invitation.  I've used Polka Dot Designs in the past and had a great experience with them not to mention fantastic invitations!  It sounds crazy but I can't wait to have another party to plan so I can order from them again!

My mom and I hosted the shower at a local eatery.  We scouted out a few places and were delighted that the cost was reasonable and the room was so spacious and bright.  I wanted round tables to highlight the centerpieces (orange mums in hand painted blue terracotta pots with ribbon) and our favors (Bath & Body Works Sweet Pumpkin hand soap with blue ribbon)  The room also had a separate entrance for us to load up the car after the party was over.  And it had a fireplace which we could use.  Yay for curb appeal and ambiance!

The guests walked down a few steps and were greeted by our "welcome table".  It solidified our pumpkin theme and displayed the pumpkin place setting cards.  (yes, I used my pumpkin scrapbook punch!  Cute right?)  I accented the table with small pumpkins and mini glittered pumpkins.  (use iridescent glitter glue!  It will give the pumpkins a festive sheen).

One of the accents I loved was a Bible verse that helped incorporate our faith into the day.  No doubt that sweet little pumpkin baby was a gift from above!

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

As if we didn't have enough pumpkins, I also found a bakery that was willing to run with our theme and style of our invitations!  They also specialized in pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting.  Adorable AND delicious!

Some of the smaller details were the bib and book I found online... I mean seriously, could it have been more perfect?  A bib that says "Auntie's Little Pumpkin"??!?  A "Biscuit Goes to the Pumpkin Patch" book??!?  (I have a yellow lab so Biscuit is very fitting)  I think I screamed at the dining room table when I found both items online.  No doubt I startled my husband and dog multiple times during all the planning.

It was such a great day!  Family, friends, food and a lot of fun welcoming a Sweet Little Pumpkin Boy!
