DIY Gifts/ Decor: Baby Shower Wall Art

Back when my sister was pregnant with her first child, I made a cute invitation display on a magnet board to decorate the "Welcome Table" at her Baby Shower.  She liked it so much that she took it home and hung it in my nephew's nursery.   The only problem was that it wasn't protected with glass which meant it has withstood a lot of wear and tear beyond the shower day.  You can see the original magnet board in my For a Little Pumpkin post.

Fast forward to December 2013.

When I asked my sister what she wanted for Christmas, she mentioned that she would love the magnet board framed.  DONE!  I was happy because I love making things that I know people will enjoy and doubly so when it's something for my little nephews.  My biggest concern with this project was that I wanted the frames to be similar because they would be displayed close together but I also wanted them to be different because the boys are unique individuals.  Running with the Shower/ Sprinkle themes helped differentiate the contents of the frames enough while the lettering and ultrasound photo components still linked them together.

Frame #1

My older nephew's frame was quick because I had a design idea in mind from the magnet board I made a few years ago.  His shower theme was "Sweet Little Pumpkins" so that was the theme of his frame.  I cropped the magnet board design on new 12x12 paper and adjusted the layout so it would fit within the 12x12 opening.  (The original magnet board was 14x14 so some cropping was needed.)

Frame #2

My younger nephew's frame was completely from scratch which took a bit more time.  I saved just about everything decorative from his Baby Sprinkle last year: ribbon from the diaper cake, confetti, stickers/etc!  (You can see my post, Sprinkled with Love here.)  The Sprinkle theme was Little Monkey/Jungle so I ran with that for the frame.  I still LOVE the jungle animal ribbon!

Here are the supplies needed to make one frame.   This would be a great gift for all special occasions:  weddings, babies, showers, anniversaries/etc.

1- white frame with 12x12 opening (mat removed)
1- piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper (for the background of the frame)
1- invitation
1- pack of large glitter letters (I used baby blue and lapis blue in the frames above)
1- sheet of letters for "welcome"
4- ultrasound pictures (or other event photos)
scrap paper for accent
odds and ends from the event (shower and sprinkle confetti, stickers, ribbon/etc.  I kept it all!)
scrapbook adhesive

And of course, I had to leave a little "made with love" note on the back.
