The Cookie Cutter: Giving Thanks

I should have posted this a few weeks ago but better late than never.  Here are my Thanksgiving cookies!!

Every year we have a 2 hour drive to Aunt Evelyn's home for Thanksgiving.  Years ago we booked a hotel for a night or two but our dog has become high maintenance in his old age.  Needless to say, no one sleeps much when Cody is barking at every noise in the pet-friendly hotel hallway.  One pro to staying over was that I could prepare appetizers and desserts in the small kitchen of our hotel room.  Now that we don't stay over night, I always struggle with what to bring that won't fall apart during a long car ride.

This year, I decided to make fall theme sugar cookies for our family's Thanksgiving gathering.  Not only did they travel well but they were a HUGE hit!  Family members actually thought I bought the cookies from a specialty bakery!  Our nephew and niece LOVED them!  And for the first time, I didn't have to ask anyone to take home leftover pie/etc.  These puppies were gone in a flash!

Behind the scenes... pumpkin cookies are taking shape!

Pumpkins, Apples, Leaves, Turkeys and Acorns.

A sample of the finished products!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
