A journey of hope and healing after a decade of infertility and two maternal near-misses.

Summer Blogger Spotlight

Back in late spring, I wrote a few posts about the National Blood Clot Alliance's Walk to Stop The Clot in New York City.  Some of my immediate family walked with me across the Brooklyn Bridge to raise awareness and funds for the NBCA.  For those that aren't familiar with them, they are a 501(c)(3), non-profit, voluntary health organization dedicated to advancing the prevention, early diagnosis and successful treatment of life-threatening blood clots such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and clot-provoked stroke.  They work on behalf of people who may be susceptible to blood clots, including, but not limited to, people with clotting disorders, atrial fibrillation, cancer, traumatic injury, and risks related to surgery, lengthy immobility, child birth (that would be me!) and birth control.  Today, the NBCA rolled out their Summer Blogger Spotlight.  Guess who is on it?

Stop The Clot Web Wall of Recognition

I am humbled and honored to be asked to share my story!  Since the very beginning of our ordeal, I said that my hope is to be able to encourage others challenged by infertility, pulmonary embolism or postpartum hemorrhage... or all three!  To see this wish begin to come to fruition is, well, it's just amazing!  In addition to the sweet miracle boy I get to love on each and every day, having the opportunity to help and support others during such a dark time in their lives makes all of the pain and suffering well worth it now.

Take a moment to check out the NBCA's Web Wall of Recognition and learn more about how patient stories provide a tremendous amount of support and encouragement to people in the midst of their battles against DVTs and PEs.  Share the link.  Spread the word.  Stop the clot.

And for those that have asked: Yes!  We will be walking in the next Walk to Stop The Clot NYC in 2017!  I'll post details when they are available.
